One in seven primary and one in ten secondary learners now speak a language other than English at home.

Asset Languages qualifications are being developed to offer recognition not only for languages achievements of those whose first language is English but also to provide recognition for the home or community language skills of children and adults who have English as an additional language.

Asset Languages provides assessment in 25 different languages, from Arabic to Yoruba. Success in externally-assessed tests means nationally-recognised qualifications from OCR, one of the UK’s major awarding bodies. Asset qualifications are awarded for success in each of the individual skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, so teachers can reward learners for the skills they are most confident in first.
